In 1997 Anastosiya Soloveva met Indle King threw a Russian Mail Order Bride agency. They began to corresponded through letters and phone calls. Shortly after, King traveled to Kyrgyzstan to propose. Months later, 18-year-old Anastosiya became 37-year-old King’s second mail order wife. After moving in with King, she refused to sleep with him. She told him it was because he was too fat. 2 years into a unhappy marriage later, Anastosiya went missing. Dectives began to question King, who would later say “I was upset, but you know, what am I going to do? Divorce her?”. In 2000, King and an accomplice killed Anastosiya by strangling her with a neck tie. Her body would be found under a mattress in a dumping ground on the Tulalip Indian Reservation. This would prompt Washington State to regulated the international marriage broker industry.
